WELCOME TO POST 9689 ERIN

"Share the Load"
Houston County Post is an up-and-coming post that is attempting to lead the way in what National VFW is labeling, "Not Your Grandpa's VFW". With free Wi-Fi, free streaming TV, in a well lit & smokeless hall. We regularly have games and events held in a family friendly environment. We're changing the face of our VFW, but our foxhole is only part of the what is changing.
We are, and are looking for, team players that are interested in doing their best they can to help other brother and sisters in arms, in whatever capacity they may be called up on to serve. If that's not you, that's ok! No matter what, you're always welcome to come and join us in whatever way you feel most comfortable in doing so. We'd love to have you! Come on in, talk with our members, share your stories, and feel the difference of the comradery that all of our members extend to all who enter. Join our team and help "Share the Load!"

Pre-Need Eligibility for VA Cemetery Burial

VA Under Secretary of Memorial Affairs Matthew T. Quinn spoke about pre-needing eligibility for burial benefits during a presentation at the 124th VFW National Convention. Over the last five decades, VA has expanded the number of national cemeteries creating more access for urban veterans and jumpstarting an initiative for those in rural areas. However, Quinn revealed that only 16% of veterans will choose a VA national cemetery for their final resting place. Read more about national cemeteries or learn more about VA burial benefits.

A Education Benefits Fraud Alert

As student veterans prepare for the 2023-2024 academic year, the VA Office of Inspector General (VA OIG) is warning about education benefits fraud. Some VA-approved schools engage in fraudulent activity that involves disparities in tuition rates and billing practices for veterans versus civilian students for the same courses. The VA OIG asks that you report any such cases. Learn more about the signs of fraud or submit a complaint.
